Lisbon Photography & Styling Workshop
May 14-18, 2018
I am thrilled to announce Eva Kosmas Flores and I are bringing you a styling & photography workshop in Lisbon this May!
For any of you who aren’t familiar with her work, Eva is a photographer, stylist, author, and the voice behind the popular Adventures In Cooking blog. She's written two fantastic cookbooks (her most recent, First We Eat, is due out in March!). She also hosts beautiful travel-based workshops all over the globe. I recently helped out with her Bordeaux workshop and I can say that in addition to being one of the most lovely people I know, Eva is a super talented photographer and a gifted teacher.
We have so much good stuff planned for you in Portugal
- We’ll spend our days in the heart of Lisbon, styling and shooting in a light-filled guesthouse featuring beautiful Portuguese textiles and ceramics made by local artisans
- At the guesthouse, we’ll gather for photography lessons, hands-on shooting & styling sessions, an Adobe Lightroom presentation and a social media & business roundtable
- We'll go over adjusting camera settings like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO and how they effect your images. We'll talk lenses and focal lengths. We'll demonstrate food styling, plating and shaping natural light so you can leave feeling confident and inspired
- After a day of shooting and styling we’ll taste Portuguese wines and cheeses in a tiny wine shop nestled in one of the city's most ancient streets
- Eva and I will lead you on a walking and shooting tour of Lisbon’s most picturesque neighborhoods, with stops for pastry tasting along the way
- In the evenings, we’ll head out to some of Lisbon’s best restaurants and taste Portugal’s world-famous seafood
- We’ll visit the studios of local makers and watch them at work
- On our last day together, we’ll go on an excursion to a fishing village at the stunning seaside and enjoy a traditional seafood lunch
- Afterwards we’ll unwind with a glass of local wine at a small organic farm and learn all about their beautiful property and products
All you need to do is pack your bags, grab your digital camera or iphone and show up. We’ve got the rest covered! All lodging, meals, excursions and local transportation are included in the workshop. So you can focus on learning, shooting and experiencing the beauty of Portugal!
It was wonderful to learn “on the go” - to ask questions and get tips, feedback, and 1:1 assistance as we went. It felt so much more unique and exciting than attending a class. Since taking the workshop, I am now shooting in manual mode only and have gained more knowledge and confidence.

Not sure if workshop is the right word to describe this event. It is more of a lifetime experience and a unique journey. I found myself sharing these ladies’ passion, learning from them in the most natural and fulfilling way, exchanging ideas and thoughts with a group of participants from each and every corner of the globe. It is all in the little details that they transmitted to me that made a huge difference in my food styling and photography career. It is all these meals and gatherings we shared together that enriched my soul, in such a short time.

My favorite part of the workshop was seeing [the city] through Olaiya's eyes. She easily navigates through the streets sharing all of her favorite places whether they be patisseries, chocolatiers, restaurants, markets or shops. Many of the places she took us I had not been to before or were not on my "to-do" list. By traveling with Olaiya I was able to feel like a local.

I adored Olaiya’s vision! I feel privileged she took us to so many extraordinary places. I would highly recommend her workshop! It's prepared like a pro but still has this easy going feeling.

Those days were so relaxing and full of good memories, so warm (because of the people!), inspirational and, of course, sooo tasty! The food was really incredible!...To be honest, it was my very first trip outside of Russia, and it was the best days of my life! I got much more than I expected.
